The Gastein Valley is one of the most versatile regions for trail running in the Alps. Over 600 kilometers of trails lead through forests, across alpine meadows, and along panoramic ridges – with views of peaks and mountain lakes.

From marked routes to individually plannable trails, Gastein offers a wide range for different requirements. Six selected trail running routes complement the offer and make the region a great experience all year round.

Gastein is also known for the adidas Infinite Trails – an event that showcases the region’s possibilities and attracts trail runners from all over the world.

adidas Infinite Trails in Gastein

At the beginning of September, the Gastein Valley becomes a meeting point for trail runners from all over the world. The adidas Infinite Trails, one of the most famous trail running events in the Alps, takes place here.

Four routes lead through the Gastein mountains – from the beginner route to the demanding ultra-distance with several peaks and numerous vertical meters. The focus is on the team race, where teams of three tackle the course together over several stages.

The combination of sporting challenge, alpine landscape, and additional offers such as regeneration in the Alpentherme thermal baths makes the event a special experience.

The Berglift is located just a few minutes’ walk from the start and finish area, making it an ideal home base for participants and spectators.

The Berglift in Bad Hofgastein is the ideal starting point for trail running in the Gastein Valley. Many routes start right at the front door and lead up to the region’s peaks and alpine pastures.

In the morning, a rich breakfast buffet awaits – the perfect foundation for long runs and plenty of elevation gain. After training, the laundry service provides extra convenience for your gear.
