The Alpe Adria Cycle Path connects Salzburg with Grado in Italy, covering approximately 410 kilometers through impressive mountain landscapes, valleys, and finally to the Adriatic coast. The stage from Bischofshofen to Bad Gastein is approximately 52 kilometers long and leads via St. Johann im Pongau and Schwarzach into the Gastein Valley. After the ascent at the valley entrance, it continues via Dorfgastein to Bad Hofgastein and along the Gasteiner Ache towards Bad Gastein. From there, the journey continues to Böckstein, where cyclists can cross the main Alpine ridge to Mallnitz with the Tauernschleuse.

The Alpe Adria Cycle Path crosses the entire Gastein Valley, passing through Dorfgastein, Bad Hofgastein, and continuing towards Bad Gastein and Böckstein. The Gastein stage is approximately 28 kilometers long and is part of the total eight stages connecting Salzburg with the Italian Adriatic. Yes, the Alpe Adria Cycle Path can also be cycled with an e-bike. Especially on a multi-day cycling trip, electric assistance can make longer stages and climbs more pleasant. For tour planning, range and charging options should be considered to ensure sufficient battery capacity for the respective daily stage.
Between Böckstein in the Gastein Valley and Mallnitz in Carinthia, the main Alpine ridge is crossed by train through the Tauern Tunnel. Bicycles can be taken on this connection. Cyclists heading south on the Alpe Adria Cycle Path continue their bike tour in Mallnitz after the train journey. As timetables and possible restrictions can vary, it is advisable to check the current connection before each stage.
Bad Hofgastein is well suited for a break or overnight stay during a tour on the Alpe Adria Cycle Path. Restaurants, shopping facilities, and the Alpentherme Gastein are located directly in the town. This way, a cycling day can end relaxed before continuing through the Gastein Valley and towards the main Alpine ridge the next morning.
The Alpe Adria Cycle Path runs directly past B&B Berglift in Bad Hofgastein. This makes the house suitable for both a stopover and an overnight stay during a multi-day bike tour. Restaurant, rooms, and other amenities are all in one location, so no additional travel is necessary after arrival.
